Clock- Corrie Double Fusee Chain
CORRIE- DOUBLE FUSEE MANTLE/BRACKET CLOCK:
Double fusee chain clock made/signed by James Corrie of London listed from 1832 to 1857 (mentioned in Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World Vol#2 by Brian Loomas). It has bright white dial with golden hands and convex glass. It strikes every hour on bell with repeater function- that is striking clock which could be made to repeat the striking of the hours by pulling the lever or a cord. This feature was used before artificial illumination to know the time at night or during low lights. Usually these clocks have a sliding knob either to strike or to silence the hourly striking. Also known as 'silent pull repeaters'
